I just heard they are trying to pass a law to take away people's guns if they live in San Francisco county. If you live there and you love guns vote no on H in November.

a few people on here have posted that. I hope you can get enough votes in your town to beat that measure. If it gets passes there others might follow suit.

        NRA to File Lawsuit Challenging
        San Francisco Gun Ban

        Wednesday, November 09, 2005

Fairfax, VA - Even with opposition from San Francisco law enforcement and major media outlets, Proposition H -- a measure banning the lawful possession, sale and manufacture of handguns and ammunition within city limits -- passed yesterday. The National Rifle Association (NRA) will file a lawsuit challenging this severe gun ban.

NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre stated, “We are disappointed, but this fight is just beginning. Lawful residents of San Francisco are being stripped of their freedom because of an illegal measure that defies common sense. We will fight this outrageous assault on the rights of law-abiding San Franciscans and I believe that we will prevail.”

Many San Francisco residents who initially supported the ban changed their opinion after NRA and local volunteers began voter education efforts throughout the city. The campaign received an additional boost when the San Francisco Police Officers Association condemned the gun ban, declaring it would "nullify the personal choice of city residents to lawfully possess a handgun for self-defense purposes.” Major San Francisco newspapers also voiced opposition to Proposition H.

In response to the passage of this proposition, NRA will lead a coalition of organizations to immediately file a lawsuit against this illegal ban in San Francisco. Proposition H, in addition to violating federal guarantees, also violates various California state laws and is therefore preempted.

Chris W. Cox, NRA’s chief lobbyist, concluded, “This is a hollow victory for the gun control lobby because this scheme is in clear violation of California law. We will file suit and fight this to the highest courts in the country until good sense prevails once again in San Francisco.”

so far theyre maknig it easy to strike down. no provision in the law for reimbursement to gun owners. violates the fourth amendment (?or 5th, not pos on that) NO FUNDING to collet the guns written in

of course they wrote some open ended crap into that would alllow them to try and figure some $$ amount, but with the variance in gun value, SF is asking for a FAT headache

And no penalties laid out either. Seems like liberal grandstanding, passing a law knowing it's so flawed that it won't survive but doing it for the press.

      hahahahahaha:

"A San Francisco police spokeswoman said Wednesday the department was consulting with the city attorney's office on how to enforce the ban.

Prop. H, the lawsuit also claimed, is so loosely drafted that it would require police to leave their guns at the station, force museums to give up their gun collections and interfere with television productions and even the performances of operas like "Tosca" and "Carmen.''

...Supervisor Chris Daly, author of the measure, said that police are exempt from the handgun ban and that TV productions and operas can use props. Daly also said Prop. H was drafted to stay within the limits of local authority by prohibiting only San Francisco residents, not visitors, from possessing handguns."

oh, OKAY, not visitors. all you armed motherfuckers who want to come here from out of town and shoot fags in the Castro, welcome! you're within the law, cuz us faggits are now just a bunch of sitting ducks. well, *this one* isn't going to be.

      Chris Daly is a douche.

"After a shooting spree, they always want to take the guns away from the people who didn't do it. I sure as hell wouldn't want to live in a society where the only people allowed guns are the police and the military."

If you live in District 9 (T Amiano) or District 6 (C Daly). You owe it to yourselves to stand up and vote these fucktards out of office in a few years.

Another one that's being passed around is a Proposition Forbidding the City and County from Banning Anything that is Legal under State and/or Federal Law. If we get the dog lovers (i.e. pit bull advocates) behind this, it'd be a really great start to stopping these stupid ideas from getting farther than these Stuporvisor's little utopian fantasies.

SAN FRANCISCO, California --- After San Francisco voters banned guns in the most recent election, city officials say they are struggling to keep up with the massive amount of guns being voluntarily turned over by gang members and other criminals.

"When I proposed this ballot initiative, I knew we'd rid the city of guns," said Supervisor Chris Daly. "I guess I wasn't prepared for the massive turnout by local gang members so eager to give us their guns. We're having to take away from resources in our pot farming initiative that passed in the last election in order to handle all of these guns."

Gang members were lined up for several blocks outside of a San Francisco police station in order to turn over their guns. "It's the right thing to do, yo," said a gangbanger known as Fizzle. "Da peeps in Frisco said no to guns, so we got no choice but to hand over that shizat. Now I got to go be an organic farmer or some **** like that. It ain't right. I stole this .45 two years ago, and now I have to give it to the police. It just ain't right."

The gun ban is so effective that police are reporting gang members and violent criminals from as far away as Bakersfield lining up to turn over their illegal and stolen firearms. "I've never seen anything like it," said one officer. "We've been talking about turning over our own guns, because we won't even need them any more. This is exactly what we thought would happen, and it's just so amazing to see it actually coming to fruition."
